Superyacht Chef: Cook up a storm for the world’s elite

With the expansion of the Superyacht Industry, qualified Superyacht Chefs are in demandThis Superyacht programme builds on existing chef qualifications and provides you with the necessary and mandatory certifications required to work on a Superyacht. You are required to be in possession of a valid Food Health & Safety Level 2 certificate, if you do not have one or need re-validation, we offer an MCA recognized Level 2 Course in Food Safety.

This 2 week course is taught by highly experienced Superyacht professionals and provides you with all the tools and knowledge in order to gain a competitive edge and find work as a professional Chef in the Superyacht Industry.

Superyacht GalleyThe following topics are covered in the Superyacht Chef course:
  • STCW 95 (2010 compliant)
  • Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD)
  • Driving a Superyacht tender (Powerboat)
  • Line handling & ropework

 

 

The new cooking guidelines from the MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) have formalised the Superyacht Chef role and as of 15th February 2015, all current and new Chef entrants will be required to complete the MCA Ships Cook Assessment in order to be eligible for employment. This assessment cannot be done in South Africa and must be taken overseas.

*Identical to the STCW 95 Basic Safety Training course, the Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD) course has become mandatory for all crew whom work onboard Superyachts of 500gt and over AND/OR those which carry 12 fare-paying passengers/guests. Every new Superyacht crew member must complete this course as a formality.
