The STCW 95 Basic Course is always going to be the logical starting point. This is much the same for the exterior crew, but from there, the next step would be a Specialist Stewardess Training Course. Our aim is to change the overall mindset in the industry that the stewardesses are just housekeepers. The job deserves the same respect as any other department on board a vessel, AND, at the end of the day; it is the stewardesses that are responsible for the tip or keeping the owner happy. Therefore, they also need to realize their responsibility as a crew member, as well as their importance in the overall running of the yacht, and act professionally. When you have an Instructor with twelve years experience in the yachting industry, and started her first job in the Hospitality/Service industry in 1989, the sort of information one can expect, is unparalleled.
The Five Day Introduction Course prepares you with the skills needed to excel in the yachting environment as a stewardess. Together with essential safety training for working onboard, you will be fully equipped to climb on board and add value as a productive crew member – equipped to accept any Stewardess position anywhere in the world. If you already have experience within the Hospitality and Customer Service Industries, we aim to enhance and to adapt the specifically to shipboard life. The only way that we will change the mindset of the industry towards stewardesses, is to arrive there fully prepared, looking and acting professional and clued up as to what your position is on board and what is expected of you. As this type of course is not compulsory, a lot of girls enter the industry with a lack of knowledge as to what the job entails. These girls end up learning a lot the HARD way, and end up wishing they had done a Training Course when they started out. Or they simply drop out. So, to save yourself a lot of tears, embarrassment and frustration, it is essential to do this course if you are planning a successful career in the Superyacht Industry.
Benefits: Training includes a broad and comprehensive syllabus, delivered by the top hospitality and maritime specialist. It is held on board the multi-million Rand Princess Yachts in the V&A Waterfront, to provide as much practical experience as possible. The Course prepares you for a service career with numerous exciting opportunities, while living on luxurious superyachts and traveling to some of the most spectacular areas of the globe. The training enables the students to deliver the level of service to which most 5 star hotels aspire.
A stewardess job is popular with individuals transferring from other hospitality-related careers, as well as couples looking to work together in the industry. It also develops your ability, passion and professionalism to deliver a level of service above and beyond first class. The course consists of Theoretical and Practical sessions to create a complete learning experience.
