Maritime security has become a necessity in the 21st Century. As more Superyachts / Yachts / Vessels take to the water, the risk of piracy attack is increased. Piracy affects commercial & private vessels alike and it is for this reason that security measures are being put in place in the form of specialized crew security training.

We offer the following Maritime Security Courses:

Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA)
Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD)
Ship Security Officer – SSO (ISPS CODE)

Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA): Is mandatory & required by crew who work onboard Superyachts / Cruise Ships / Offshore Vessels & Platforms and whom do not have a specific designated security duty and don’t have security related training in line with the STCW code. It includes: Introduction to Maritime Security & the ISPS Code, Key Threats, Procedures and Communication.

Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD): This certification is required to be completed by those crew whom have been designated a security duty and is a level higher than the Proficiency in Security Awareness. The Proficiency in Designated Security Duties course can be completed instead of the Proficiency in Security Awareness course should the candidate wish to gain a higher certification from the start, regardless of having been designated a security duty or not. This applies to new & exisiting crew onboard Superyachts / Cruise Ships / Offshore Vessels & Platforms. It includes: Ship Security Plan, Security Risks & Threats, Security Inspections, Security Equipment & Systems.

Ship Security Officer (SSO): This is a mandatory requirement for those crew looking to work in the Maritime Security Industry. This certification not only applies to commercial shipping, but also includes port facilities & the private sector. It includes: Implementation of Ship Security Plan, Assessment of risks, threats & vulnerability, Security Inspections, Operation of Security Equipment & Systems, Best Management Practices (BMP4)
