The 2 day RYA Powerboat Level II course which takes place in Cape Town, South Africa, is run by Superyachting South Africa and provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a Superyacht tender (powerboat). Similar to a driving license, you are required to be in possession of a valid powerboat license before you may legally operate at sea. As a professional formality, each crew member should complete their RYA Powerboat Level II course in order to fulfill their job role and be an active member of the crew.
The course consists of practical and theoretical exercises and includes the following vessels: 5m Explorer Tender & 2 x 4.5m RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boats), also used for the RYA Superyacht Tender Operator Course. Your instructors (ex-superyacht crew), with many years’ experience, will teach you all the skills required to drive a powerboat safely & confidently. In addition, and one of the only companies to add value in this way, Superyacht specific tender operating procedures are taught which is sure to impress your superior or Captain.

Today’s modern yachting industry expects the highest standards from new crew. This means having the right attitude & right qualifications, but most importantly, having relevant training specific to your job role. As a Yacht Deckhand you will be required to take on many exterior tasks including: Powerboat driving, Jetski driving, Polishing, Washing, Varnishing, Teak Maintenance, Engine Maintenance, Anchoring, Line Handling, Watch Keeping etc.
As a Yacht Stewardess you will be required to take on many interior tasks including: Silver Service, Cleaning, Polishing, Provisioning, Laundry, Wine, Bar & Cocktail service and at times be required to assist with Powerboat operations such as transporting the Chef to shore for provisions, entering/exiting port etc.
